Cardmarket trend price and supply evolution for almost 2 months after NEO's release

With WOTC's announcement for the premier play returning with a 2022-2023 season and spoilers trickling in for "Streets of New Capenna", I wanted to revisit how the prices and supply have been evolving for the regular art cards in MTG's most recent set "Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty". The green channel land and the white planeswalker have always been highly favored and hyped and there is no doubt that these come out as winners...

Broad Strokes

I always like to graph all cards together because that gives a general impression of how the volumes and prices relate to one another either inter-rarity level or intra-rarity. The next paragraphs will then go more indepth, according to what I feel, are the most stand-out evolutions. As in my other articles, the vertical dashed lines on the pictures represent the prerelease and release dates respectively.

Mythics

Let's have a look how the mythics from this set has been evolving. First up is a card that according to my previous article About price trends and supply for regular arts, two weeks after Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty's release weekend warranted to a close follow-up...

Hidetsugu Consumes All

To me, it looks like Hidetsugu's appetite has been satisfied, it indeed has shown a spike, but it seems back on the decline right now, with a supply well over 1000 and rising, I see it's price further declining in the near future.

Noteworthy planeswalkers

The Wandering Emperor

Kamigawa will, arguably, be most known for the white planeswalker it brought to the table. With a card that has come to see play in standard, pioneer, modern and quite possibly some other formats, we shouldn't be too surprised that she has seen a considerable increase in value since it's release, when it was still possible to pick her up for 10 euros. Now, the price trend seems to have settled around 25 euros. The price is trending downwards, but I wouldn't bet on it that this will continue as such in the near term.

Kaito Shizuki

Whereas Tezzeret has been rising in supply (currently sitting at around 2000 available items) and a declining price trend, Kaito Shizuki seems to be a planeswalker that is able to keep it's value. All in all, it's trend price seems to be slightly increasing, but I don't expect this one to be spiking shortly.

Channel lands

What would this post be without having a look at how the channel lands are faring? Well, they are mostly holding value, with Boseiju and Sokenzan being the most expensive and least expensive of these lands. Otawara has gained the most in value since release.

Other noteworthy rares

Fable of the Mirror-Breaker

Fable of the Mirror-Breaker has been a sleeper, it has been picked up a couple of weeks after the set's release, with a heavy drop in supply as of mid-march. Prices have been steadily increasing since then.

March of Otherworldly Light

March of Otherworldly Light, another rare that has seen a considerable increase in price since release.

What do Rakdos Vampires have to do with Mukotai Soulripper?

I felt like mentioning Mukotai Soulripper given the noticeable jump in supply that happened around the end of march / beginning of april. At first I didn't realize where the jump in supply might have come from, but after making the link with the release of the "challenger decks 2022" on March, 31st and seeing all cards from those challenger decks with sudden supply increases (and corresponding price drops), I didn't have to look further... You can find 2 Mukotai Soulrippers in the "Rakdos Vampires" deck.

Final words

For the time being, this wraps up the evaluations of the trend price and supply of the cards for NEO for me. For the passed period, what most stood out to me was the enormous supply increase for Mukotai Soulripper due to the release of the Challenger Decks. A next article might have a look at how the market was affected for the other cards in these decks...
